Jacques Callot - Jacques Callot was a baroque printmaker and draftsman from the Duchy of Lorraine. He is an important person in the development of the old master print. He made more than 1,400 etchings that chronicled the life of his period, featuring soldiers, clowns, drunkards, Gypsies, beggars, as well as court life. He also etched many religious and military images, and many prints featured extensive landscapes in their background. (Wikipedia)
Estate find - This offering is for the engraving: La Noblesse: La Dame a L'Eventail c1620 - the actual print measures 5 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches mounted and with a contemporary frame under glass - the mat appears to be silk covered - the frame is gilded wood - the print as viewed with a loupe appears to have been trimmed and has some discoloration and wrinkles from mounting tape - frame measures 10 1/4 x 8 1/8 x 1 inch - information on reverse - framed by DuBose Gallery Houston Texas - comes with certificate of authenticity from an Associated American Artists print council member with registry number.
and Le Gentil home au Plastron de Fourrure c1600 - the actual print measures 5 7/8 x 3 3/4 inches mounted and with a contemporary frame under glass - the mat appears to be silk covered - the frame is gilded wood - the print as viewed with a loupe appears to have a small spot of restoration at upper right corner and a small tear to edge just above sword tip - frame measures 10 1/4 x 8 1/8 x 1 inch - information on reverse - framed by DuBose Gallery Houston Texas - comes with certificate of authenticity from an Associated American Artists print council member with registry number.
